Is it about a show or true love?

Okay Let’s Chat!  I think that when a man has found the woman that he wants to spend the rest of his life with, that is awesome.  And when he plans to propose to her, it should be a very special, sentimental moment for the both of them.  It should be something that he has thought long and hard about; how he wants this moment to be played out.  Remember, everyone will be asking “How did he propose?”, so you want to make sure that it is something that she will always remember, and not be disappointed.

I decided that I wanted to become a Marriage Proposal Planner because I desire to assist in making sure that this is a moment that will never be forgotten. I am a totally romantic person at heart, and I am one of those ladies that cry joyful tears during those very special moments.

In our world today, there is a lot of pressure on men to get photographed, get a flash mob, or complete a videotape for all to see. Here are just a couple of examples of how we now have made it so that guys are in competition to create the best proposal that will get 1 zillion views and likes. A guy took 27 minutes to propose to his girlfriend and it is all over the internet and YouTube. Or what about the guys who acted like the plane was about to crash, when it was not, just so he could propose.

I think all of that is great, but we have lost sight of the real picture.  You are proposing to your girlfriend because you love her so much that you want to spend the rest of your life with her.  You see yourself married, with the house, the kids and the pets.  Yes, it is okay to hire a planner to assist you if you want to make sure that it is done right, want help pulling all of the pieces together or you are making it a day long activity.  Just remember, it is about the love your share, not about how many hits you can get on social media.
Don’t get me wrong, seeing these special moments on the internet and reading about them are liked by many. However, I decided that I wanted to do this to help celebrate the love that a man and woman share with each other.  I read an article where many women were disappointed with their proposal because it was not romantic.  I know that you do not want your special lady to be disappointed about the proposal, but you want it to be a special moment that will be told to their grandchildren, not simply viewed on social media.  Just Sayin!

Would She say YES!

Yesterday, I was checking my news feed on Facebook and I saw this picture and thought that is a cute engagement ring.  I read the post further and found out it was a cake.  I was blown away that is was actually a cake.  I like it so much that I posted it to my Facebook page.  My head began to swirl with proposal ideas.

I have several friends who offer Proposal Service for guys who need or want assistance with proposing to their girlfriend.  I even found this very cool website called Perfect Proposal and I loved it so much that I sent them telling them that I thought they had a great website.  I am so into proposal that I signed up for "How He Asked" newsletter which is all about wedding proposals.I am totally a true romantic at heart so much that I had cried when watching several of these videos.  I love all of those holiday love stories and romantic movies.  I am the first to cry at those sentimental moments and my family knows it.  I am such a love person that I have two fireplaces in my home.

Okay, so let's get back to the engagement cake. I see a guy going to have this cake made but there is also a sign saying Will You  Marry Me! made out of Rice Crispies as well.  In the morning he serves her breakfast in bed and tells her that he has a few errands to run. On the tray is a single red rose, French toast with sausage, orange juice and a note. The note tells her to get ready for a one of a kind day. She gets dressed and finds another note with her keys and there is a knock at the door.  The limousine driver is there to pick her up to take her on her journey for the day.  In the limo she finds another note from her boyfriend talking about how the first meet.  She arrives at her next spot where she joins her best friends for a mani and pedi treatment.  Once they are done they get into the limo and head to lunch.  After they have finished eating she is given another note.  She gets back into the limo to go to her next destination where she finds her siblings.  They have a video message to play for her from her boyfriend.  She is in tears now because she knows that he is up to something.  The limo takes her back home where she gets  dressed up and waits for her boyfriend to arrive.  He arrives with a bouquet of Peonies which is her favorite flower.  She thinks they are going out for a special dinner but there is more to it.

They arrive at one of their favorite restaurants to have dinner when they are escorted to one of their private dinning room which is filled with their family and friends.  She is totally blown away and surprised.  They have dinner and you can  hear laughter and love fill the room.  She still has no idea that he is going to propose to her.  The waiting staff begin to remove their plates from the table and he decides he wants to do a toast.  While he is doing the toast the waiter staff bring out the cake and places it in front of her and he drop to one knee.  She is absolutely shocked because the cake looks so real but it is absolute replica of the engagement ring that he has in his hand.
I'm totally a TRUE Romantic at heart!  What do you think her answer would be?

The company that made this cake is called Let Them Eat Cake.  I know the baking/cake industry has evolved just like the wedding industry.  They make cakes that look like purses, shoes, perfume bottles, etc.  If you are wanting something totally unique and different than make sure that the bakery can handle your type of order.  Make sure  they have pictures to prove the can provide what you need and get referrals. You need to find out how long it will take them to make a special designed cake for you event.  You must also consider the price for the cake because you are not at your local grocery store purchasing a cake.  The prices of the cakes can be very high do to all of the work and the type of icing , artistic artistry time they will use to make your special cake. Don't forget about the number of people that this cake will be serving.  Jump outside of the box and do something different and fun.

I am not an expert on creating proposal but I am a true romantic at heart.  If you are wanting to find a creative way to propose to your girlfriend than begin to think outside of the box.  Create a  movie or video, choose scenes form Disney movies, do a flash mob,  do a scavenger hunt., or call Let Them Eat Cake so they can create a replica of your ring for you.  Make it a moment that both of you will never forget.  My husband took me to a boat show in Annapolis and found a boat that was taking people our for a ride and then propose to me.  I never had a clue.

Vendor Spostlight: Borrowed Blue Phtotography

Yesterday, was the most interesting day of my life because as a planner I do not like lateness.  I dropped my daughter and friends off to VBS and then was suppose to be off to my meeting.   I went to start the car and it showed that a door was open and so I went around to open and closed every door but the light would not go off. I then realized that my dashboard was not working at all which means I could not see if I was in drive, 1 or 2.  I had to put my vehicle into gear by feel.  I could not even tell how fast I was going on the beltway which was backup up (GEEZ).  I thought about cancelling my appointment but decided to go forward even if I was a few minutes late. I got lost with my GPS on the phone because I could not hear it for some reason.  I finally made it to my appointment and WOW!
I walked up to the door which Natalie answered and Jamie was behind her.  I knew who Natalie was and how many animals she had and who was Jamie and she had one dog.  I think it is very good to know about people especially when they put it into writing on their website for you to get a feel for who they really are as a person.  The ladies began to tell about how they meet, who long the had been in there location, how they had renovated the space.  The walls are beautifully decorated with their work.  They began to show the various albums and how their process for getting clients work.
They have this one photo album that was full of surprises because the pages were folded within themselves.  I joked that I was going to have to renew my vows with my husband just so I could have that photo album.  They loved the idea of me renewing my vows and so does our daughter so she can be the flower girl. It was my most favorite album out of all of them. I loved how when they took pictures that couples really did look like they were posing in some of the pictures.  They have this one pictures that they took with infrared and it looks like there is snow on the trees and ground (Awesome picture).
They gave me a tour of their studio which which used to be a shoe store and there were apartments upstairs.  It took them 2 years to renovate but boy it is a beautiful studio. The upstairs is for photo shots which they created a headboard which I want to take a picture in front of when I get my shots done.  I must tell you they are mid to high range (starting at $2,500)  in cost as photographers but they are worth the cost.  When you are rating what is most important to you and if photography is ranked very high than please contact Natalie and Jamie at Borrowed Blue Photography.  I am looking forward to working with these ladies in the coming months. Here is a link to there blog posts so you can get a sample of their work.

When you start looking at photographers make sure they are someone that you can connect with and their work gives you the feel you want to have for your photo album. There should be several questions that you ask a photographer when you set up an appointment .   These are pictures that you will have to share with you children and their children. Here are a few important questions that I thinking brides and grooms should ask photographers:
  • Do you have my date available?  Ask this over the phone so that you do waste their time or yours with an appointment.
  • How many years have you been a photographer?
  • How many photographers will be taking pictures at my wedding? How much more for a 2nd photographer?
  • How much of a deposit is required?
  • Do you have to pay traveling expense if your wedding is more than 100 or more miles from their location?
  • Can you set up a payment schedule? If you can pay them something every month than you do not feel so overwhelmed about money.
  • Do you shoot in digital or film format?
  • Do you shoot in color and black and white ?  If only color than how much more for black and white photos?

Are You Getting Cold Feet?

I belong to a wonderful wedding and event planners group whom I call my CI Sista's. We are from all of the country and we are there for each other on our high and lows days. We encourage and inspire each other to push to be the best we can be as wedding and event planners.

One day a message was posted about what to do when you think a couple is getting cold feet. A light bulb when off for me that this would be a good topic for a blog. Let me just say that planning a wedding is a very wonderful event that you and your fiance' are planning. The planning can so take over your life that you two are now screaming and yelling at each other about the details of the
wedding. You are finding yourself in tears because you are working a full time job and trying to plan a wedding in a instant. You must remember that it is not just about all of the details for that one day but it is about you two spending the rest of your lives together as husband and wife. You have begun to doubt that this is something that you even want to do because you can not see eye to eye on things or your just feeling frustrated and overwhelmed with the planning process. Planning your wedding is a special event that the two of you are creating for your family and friends to celebrate your new life together.

When you are planning your wedding don't forget to do date nights. This is help you both stay connected and remember why you say "Yes" to his proposal. I have seen several cute ideas for date nights on Pinterest which I would recommend to any of my engagement couples to put into practice. When you find that you are getting cold feet or beginning to doubt if you want to get married than do on a date and do not discuss or talk about the wedding for at least 24 hours. If you both are still feeling overwhelmed with the planning than it is time to hire a professional planner. Just remember your love for each other during this process and do get so stuck on all of the details.

When Things Do Not Go As Plan

I currently belong to a Mastermind group where a bunch of us ladies get together to be empowered and challenged as business owners.  I must tell you that I was very excited for our first video chat with everyone from the group.   I was so excited that I thought the call was on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.  I did have this programed in my calendar but I just could not wait for the day to get here.  So Wednesday, finally got here and I got myself all set up for the video call and for some reason I could connect with the group so I decided to call in to listen to the chat.  I was only the line with several other lovely ladies and we keep waiting for us to get connect to the meeting.  We sent text, wrote on our group’s facebook page that we were on the phone waiting. We began talking to each other and sharing get information which I feel that I have a greater connection with these ladies than ever.  After chatting for an hour we realized that there was some technical issue that still needed to be worked on for our group meetings.  I was said that I did not hear my coach but I feel like I have 4 new friends that I might have never gotten to know if this had never happen.

You and your fiancĂ© are planning to have a outdoor wedding this summer.  We are expecting for the weather to cooperate but if it rains then you need to make sure to get an indoor or tent as a backup plan.  If you have a tent that you could just not use the sides that way you and your guest are covered from the beating sun but if the weather changes than your wedding does not get interrupted.   You are still able to have the dream outdoor wedding that you both have planned.
